A BlindValet alternative that keeps going without internet

MyPokerCaptain is an alternative to BlindValet: a web-based poker tournament app, cheaper on every paid plan, with no 27-player cap for a home game, that keeps working without internet. You keep seating, payouts and leagues; you lose the custom points formula, thirty-six languages, and as wide a free plan.

Why look for an alternative

  • Price. Every MyPokerCaptain paid plan costs less than BlindValet’s comparable plan.
  • The 27-player cap. BlindValet’s Home Game plan stops at 27 players; beyond that you need Club. MyPokerCaptain’s Home Games plan has no cap.
  • The venue Wi-Fi. BlindValet presents itself as a cloud-based system and doesn’t document an offline mode. MyPokerCaptain keeps going without a network.
  • Multi-day events. Flights, bag & tag and the Day 2 draw are in MyPokerCaptain (Casino plan).

What you keep

  • a web app, nothing to install;
  • the clock and blind structure;
  • table seating and balancing;
  • payouts;
  • the league and its standings, recalculated after every tournament (Club plan);
  • several devices for one club, each director with their own account.

What changes

  • Eleven languages instead of 47. English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Dutch, Russian, Japanese, Korean and Chinese.
  • Three points systems instead of a custom formula. Club, festival and Sit & Go, with the option to count only the best events.
  • A narrower free plan: 9 players at one table, payouts entered by hand.
  • No ticket printing for now: it is planned.

Switching from BlindValet to MyPokerCaptain

  1. Create an account: the free plan is enough to try it, and paid plans come with a 14-day trial and no credit card.
  2. Recreate your structure, or work one out with the blind structure calculator.
  3. Enter the club’s members once.
  4. Start the league from the next season, with the points system of your choice.

The detailed comparison goes through what each one does better, criterion by criterion.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a BlindValet alternative that works offline?

Yes: MyPokerCaptain keeps the clock, eliminations and cash desk running when the network drops, and reopens offline once it has been opened online on the device. Everything syncs when the connection returns. BlindValet doesn't document an offline mode.

Is there a cheaper alternative to BlindValet?

MyPokerCaptain costs less on every paid plan: €7.99 a month for Home Games against €8.99 for BlindValet's Home Game plan, €12.99 against €14.99 for Club, €47.99 against €59.99 for the most complete plan. MyPokerCaptain's paid plans come with a 14-day trial and no credit card.

Can I bring my BlindValet leagues over to MyPokerCaptain?

There is no import from BlindValet. A league starts again from the next season, with one of MyPokerCaptain's three points systems; the club's members are entered once, then picked from the list for every tournament.
